Backlit fabric graphics is not just a current industry trend, rather its here to stay because it is a superior backlit solution. Basically, backlit fabric graphics has color vibrancy paired with even, energy efficient lighting, in an overall lighter weight package, containing recyclable components, ticks all the boxes of the current marketplace. There’s no glare nor barrier to disrupt viewing the clarity of color and image sharpness. Its fairly comparable to looking at the old Kodachrome slides, but in a much bigger viewing box! This brings me to the biggest advantage with this newer method is the size limits have expanded to eight be ten feet, or even larger. Once upon a time you were forced to conform to dimensions per film format dictation as well as traditional rectangle dimensions. Now you can bust loose and let the design dictate a grand or narrow rectangle style. Yet, as large as these bigger graphics are, they are easy to ship simply in a tube, breaking down into component parts. No heavy crate required, as the weight and cumbersomeness is a shadow of its former self.
There is nothing that stands between you and the purity of your high resolution digital file image. There’s no grain, glare, nor muted colors coming from a limited color gamut. This time you can achieve “pure color” which means bright yellows, no longer dirtied waters of their true clean character. Green grass is not reduced to a darkened version of itself. Reds and fusias lunge, practically grabbing you out of your seat.
The good news with all of this, is that the dyes used to create fabric graphics are eco-friendly because they are water-based! The inks will not contribute to the earth’s pollution as other inks can. There is no residual silver nor photographic chemicals used any longer creating hazardous waste.
The fabric, receiving your image, can be made of recycled polyesters or the polyester can be recycled. Polyester is used because it is most receptive to the gassed dyes in this dye sublimation fabric printing process. The final fabric graphic is washable because the inks are permanently encapsulated into the fibers of the fabric. This durability is superior to the old days when surface scratches and kinks in the substrate were a threat. The lightbox itself, can be made of recycled lightweight aluminum or be recycled later. The lights employed are LED light fixtures lighting the perimeter and lasting significantly longer. LED lighting fixtures are more efficient and way less cumbersome than the flourescent tubes of yesteryear. Electric consumption is reduced by the efficient LED technology versus flourescent tubes. The entire package of the large format fabric graphic and its lightbox and its lights not only significantly less awkward to pack (because they can be broken down into smaller component parts), but are oh so much lighter and more compact. This will reduce your carbon footprint, being better for the environment, and reduce fuel costs in shipping. The old film products involved chemical by-products and remnant silver, appeared murky appearance when no lit. This new backlit fabric graphics solution looks good both lit and unlit, is a superior product by far in its overall appearance and its good for the environment! What will you choose for your next round of backlit graphics?
